Deck Oiling in Adelaide
Lock in protection and rich colour
Deck oiling — enhance grain, shield from weather
Deck oiling protects timber from sun and rain while enhancing its natural colour and grain. For older decks, oiling is almost always the final step after sanding so the oil can soak in evenly and last. If your deck still has old paint or stain, start with our Deck Restoration. For new decks, oiling is the first finish that locks in colour and protection from day one. We use penetrating oils that don’t peel – they fade naturally and are easy to refresh.

Deck Oiling FAQs
Why use penetrating oil instead of a film finish?
Penetrating oils soak in, so they don’t crack or flake. They’re easier to maintain and keep your deck looking great for longer.
Can you oil over existing coatings?
Not effectively. If your deck has old stain, paint, or film coatings, the oil can’t soak in properly and will sit patchy on the surface. The timber needs to be taken back with deck sanding before oiling, so the finish bonds evenly and protects the wood long-term.
How does oil protect your timber?
Penetrating oils soak deep into the wood fibres, helping resist UV damage, repel moisture, and slow down cracking or warping. The timber stays nourished and flexible instead of drying out.
